A Night to Remember: Cadence Raises Over £2,200 for Julia’s House

We are thrilled to report that our recent charity event in support of Julia’s House Children’s Hospice was a resounding success! Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and the incredible support from our community, we raised over £2,200 to help this wonderful organisation continue their vital work.

Support from Local Businesses

The evening was filled with excitement, beginning with a fantastic raffle featuring prizes generously donated by local businesses. Attendees had the chance to win fabulous items, including Ray-Ban sunglasses, relaxing massages, original artwork, experience days, and coveted West End tickets. Additionally, we held a silent auction for an exhilarating Porsche experience day at Silverstone. This auction drew significant interest, ultimately being won by MP Jessica Toale, who made an extremely generous bid securing the prize.

A magical start!

Entertainment was a highlight of the night, starting with the mesmerising “Magic by Alfie.” Alfie went around the crowd performing incredible tricks that left everyone astonished. Following this, the talented Mathilda Mae took to the stage as our support act, enchanting the audience with her beautiful voice as she performed four heartfelt songs.

Let the music begin!

Then it was our turn! Cadence delivered a fun filled first set with a great mix of songs! Including crowd-pleasers, like “Dancing Queen” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” as well as emotive songs that tugged at the heartstrings, such as “Mary Did You Know” and “Rainy Days and Mondays.” The second set kicked off with a Cadence favourite “White Winter Hymnal,” featuring an impressive and engaging clapping routine! We concluded our set with our first ever performance of our new single “Hallelujah,” which received an emotional standing ovation.

A Team Effort

Every song had its own unique choreography which was designed by Cadence members Vicki Armstrong, Emma Perkins and Harriet Harris. The evening included a delightful combination of group numbers and supported solos, with Donna Levaggi, Tracy Manning, Nella Cooper, Helen Steel, Julia Woodward, and Emma Perkins all showcasing their talents in their first-ever solos. The evening was seamlessly hosted by Niki Merritt, who did a fantastic job as compère for both sets.

A Star-studded Guest List

The event was a complete sell-out, with attendance from the Mayor of Christchurch and the Mayor of Bournemouth, alongside numerous local MPs and councillors, some of whom were seen dancing enthusiastically throughout the night. Mayor George Farquhar delivered an encouraging speech, followed by heartfelt words from Julia’s House CEO Martin Edwards, emphasising the importance of community support in making a difference.

Julia’s House also had a stand at the event, where their adorable little teddies were particularly popular among attendees.

Some words from Mayor Farquhar

"It was a privilege to be at the extraordinary debute live public performance of the talented vocal performance group called Cadence.

Having done no prior research I was amazed with the range of vocal ability and harmony. The poise, confidence and delivery of each and every member of the group was 100%.

Their bond of friendship, and mission to support local charities with an obvious joy of singing and fun, will carry them so very far. And we will be a better community for them.

So many first time public solos, delivered flawlessly, with each song occupied and embodied believably was marvellous. Do take the opportunity to see Cadence perform, and share in the beginning of something very special."
